Bright garments adorned with thousands of pieces of curled tin sang when knocked against each other, to the movement of the Ojibwe women who danced in ceremony to honor the lives of Renee Good and Alex Perretti, two U.S. citizens killed in the city by militant agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in January.
Native Vote 2026. This week, Deb Haaland (Laguna Pueblo), a candidate for New Mexico governor, visited Albuquerque to see firsthand how local programs are supporting people experiencing homelessness. ZUNI, N.M. — The Zuni Youth Enrichment Project received a $25,000 Judges’ Award at the inaugural UpTide Nonprofit Accelerator Showcase, held Jan. 28 in New York City. The showcase marked the culmination of a six-month accelerator program for five nonprofit leaders from across the country; hosted by the 92NY Belfer Center for Innovation and Social Impact, it also was made possible with support from Seed Spot.

First Peoples Fund (FPF), a national nonprofit committed to uplifting Native American artists and culture bearers, proudly announces the recipients of its 2026 Cultural Capital Fellowship. This year, seven artists have been selected to receive the prestigious award. Each fellow will receive $10,000 along with a year of professional development support.
